Easy as 1-2-3
This easy cream cheese icing recipe is here for your reference as it is so versatile. You can use this icing for muffins, pastries, cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes, or even something like my birthday cake french toast!
If you love extra icing like I do, don’t be afraid to double up this recipe! Simple to make and it truly is easy as combing all the ingredients. The only key thing for this recipe is to ensure your cream cheese is soft enough. Otherwise, you could end up with small lumps which are tough to get rid of!
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- pinch, salt
- 2 tsp heavy cream or milk
- Step One
Soften cream cheese by leaving out at room temperature for about 30 minutes or microwave for about 20 seconds until slightly soft. Using a hand mixer or fork, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
Add in vanilla extract and salt. Mix in heavy cream and powdered sugar alternately until a very smooth mixture is achieved, about 3-5 minutes depending on mixing tool used.
Ready to use as is or place in a piping bag for a drizzle effect.
