Skipping the eggs
I know, I know. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It sets the tone for our energy level and even our mood. Breakfast is most enjoyed by me if it’s egg-less; EGG FREE…yes I said it.
I’m not sure why I have such an aversion to eggs. As a child I loved them, but only scrambled with cheese. I’m not picky huh?
Eggs are great for protein and I understand it’s nutritional value yet they just disgust me. Although, being a chef I can cook some killer egg dishes (which I will eventually share with all my fellow egg lovers) so I definitely appreciate them for their potential. I do get why people like them.
Doesn’t mean I’ll ever really love them. It’s like that guy you know is super good for you but there is just something off and you can’t quite figure out why you just don’t want them. That is eggs for me!
What else is there?
It’s hard to take the place of the eggs in our breakfast routines, especially because there are people in my house who love eggs and probably wouldn’t dream of an egg-less breakfast!
Not only are we just used to seeing eggs with a typical breakfast, it’s that the other side of the breakfast menu it often riddled with sugary sweet options (french toast, donuts, I still love you).
Don’t get me wrong who doesn’t want a delicious, warm, sweet cinnamon roll with all it’s ooey gooey goodness or some simple blueberry pancakes? I definitely do; but that’s not ideal if I am headed to work.
For me, the sweet breakfasts are done sparingly because then I truly enjoy my sugary induced coma. In addition to smoothie and yogurt breakfasts, which I have some amazing recipes to share with you below, we have some other unique egg-less recipes like the red pear and Gorgonzola cheese salad!
Some of these recipes also fall into special dietary needs like low carb, gluten-free, or keto but don’t let that deter you if you don’t follow those plans. These recipes are full of flavor and are quick to make! Try one out on your next busy egg-less morning.
